Match Report 11/09/2021

Friday night football returned to the Euro soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League this week as Cotgrave hosted Bingham Town.  Goals from Lewis Robertson and Sam Brakewell gave Cotgrave a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Bingham.

Over the weekend, all games kicked off 5 minutes late to pay respects to Dylan Rich, a West Bridgford Colts player that passed away following a medical incident in an FA Youth Cup tie with Boston United.

In the Premier Division, A local derby took place between the two basement sides in the division as Awsworth Villa took on FC Sez. Both sides were looking for their first win of the season and this search will continue as an end-to-end fixture resulted in a 2-2 draw as FC Sez couldn't capitalise on their high number of chances.  Wollaton moved up to second in dramatic fashion as a 85th minute penalty overturned a youthful Bilborough side in a competitive 2-1 win.  Results elsewhere saw Ilkeston Town Development beat Stapleford Town 2-0 away from home, FC Cavaliers came away from the Orston Recreation Ground with a point after getting a 1-1 draw with Aslockton and Orston. Attenborough became the new bottom side over the weekend after falling 4-1 at home to Keyworth United.

Only three results in Division One,  Top Valley drew 1-1 away to Beeston, while West Bridgford and Ruddington Village both took 2-0 wins over Stapleford Reserves and Hucknall Town Reserves respectively.

Then across the North and South of Division Two we saw four ties. In the North, a 5 goal thriller between Arnold Town Reserves and Phoenix Inham edged towards the away side 3-2 thanks to a Josh Reynolds brace and a strike from Patrick Fearn. A goal from Charlie Breslin was the ultimate decider in a 1-0 win for Bestwood Colliery over Ravenshead Reds at the Miners Welfare Ground.  The South Division saw Long Bennington move to the top of the table scoring 4 goals against West Bridgford Reserves to achieve the three points.  Pass Move Grin's reserves took a 2-1 win over the Rossoneri, recovering from their loss against Cotgrave's reserves last weekend,

The Foundation Division saw South Notts AFC give Ruschcliffe Reserves their third consecutive defeat to keep them at the bottom of the table in a 2-0 away win.At the opposite end of the division, AFC Rufford stayed in first place after a 3-0 home win over Sutton Travellers thanks to a Nathan Cotton brace. Elsewhere saw Yatesbury, Phoenix Inham Reserves, and Carlton Town Lions get three points.

Four teams kicked off their Development Division season over the weekend, Basford United's Development side overturned Clifton All Whites in a 4-1 win at Greenwich Avenue, and Barrowby Development got hit hard with a resounding 6-0 defeat thanks to a 5 star performance from Southwell City.
