Now four or five games into the season, the Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League is starting to shape up for what looks like it’s going to be an exciting season. We saw five games in the Premier Division. Ilkeston Development went top of the table after a strong 6-1 win over Wollaston. Despite the
away side taking the lead in the first minute, a youthful, talented Ilkeston side took a 4-1 lead going into
halftime, getting the three points and keeping their 100% win record alongside fellow high-fliers AFC
Dunkirk. Woodthorpe Park Rangers came from a 3-2 losing position at halftime to beat Sandiacre Town
5-3 and keep themselves in the run for the top. Other results included Attenborough achieving a
comfortable 4-1 home win over Bilborough Town; Aslockton & Orston fell 2-0 to Keyworth United and
honours were even between Awsworth Villa and Stapleford Town with a 2-2 draw in front of 69
spectators to maintain Villas' against relegation.
Division One brought five more fixtures. Pythian are still searching for their first three points of the
season after conceding five second half goals to lose 7-0 to AFC Top Valley. In the battle of the reserves,
Radford lost 2-0 at home to Southwell City with goals from Rhuel Samuels and Joseph Sargison. Top side
Gedling Southbank received their first loss of the season, falling 1-0 to Meden Vale Colts. Kirton
Brickworks won 3-2 away to FC Geordie and Ruddington Village won strong at home to Kimberley
Reserves in a 4-2 game inspire by a Dunston brace.
Division Two North & South brought lots of goals and intrigue as always. Only three games in the North,
FC Mansfield comfortably beating AFC Cresswell 4-0 away from home. Arnold Town Reserves lost 6-2 to
Nottingham Community and Netherfield won 3-2 over Trent Vineyard. An average of six goals a game in
the South, the highest scoring was a dominant 9-1 win by East Lake Robins against Elston United.
Beeston Reserves’ run of bad luck continues, going 5 games without a point, losing 2-1 to Cotgrave
Reserves.
AFC Rufford stayed 1 st place in the Foundation Division with a competitive 4-3 victory over Stapleford,
and Sutton Travellers won 3-1 over Rushcliffe. Finally in the Development Division, in the only game in
the division at the weekend, Ruddington Village overcame Barrowby away from home winning 2-1.
