The Nottinghamshire Senior League Second Division consists of 15 teams each playing each other twice (home and away). Three points for a win, one for a draw, the team with the most points at the end of the season will be crowned champions and therefore (subject to a committee vote) promoted to Division One.
In the case of two or more sides level on points in the division, the team(s) with the best goal difference will be placed higher, incase of these being the same, the team(s) with the most amount of goals scored will be placed highest.
Calverton MW Academy became first ever winners of the NSL Second Division in 2008/09 as the league increased it's Division's for the first time since forming. Calverton found themselves a point adrift in second spot behind Awsworth Villa Reserves who had already completed there season in April but won there last two games to take the title and gain promotion to Division One. The Seasons second season was a fantastic campaign with sixteen teams being long lead by newcomers Nottinghamshire until the last few weeks of the campaign. Notts somehow ended the league in trophyless fashion Thanks largely to a terrific record breaking run of 22 games unbeaten and nineteen straight wins by Vernon Villa to see them take the championship after an indifferent start to NSL life. Adding misery to Nottinghamshire was Hucknall Rolls who snatched second with a last day win where they needed eight goals against lowly Bottesford to finish with a better goal difference then there rivals. Sandhurst Res finished bottom with a low total of 4 points from their 30 games. In the 2010/11 Southwell St Marys crowned their debut NSL campaign with a championship win finishing five points above Chilwell Town in second. Nottinghamshire for the second season in a row came third with Sandhurst also finishing successive campaigns at the bottom of the table. The season ended with fifteen teams after both Forest Town Reserves and Newark Flowserve disbanded before the new year.
