Nottinghamshire were founded in 1895 but up until 1902 only played friendlies. During that season, the side changed their name to Nottingham Magdala, a title they kept until 1906 before the break away of what is known today as Magdala Amateurs, folowing the break away of Magdala, the club reverted to its existing name Nottinghamshire FC and adopting its current green and white halves kit and winning the 1908 MAA Championship. The club has played many famous opponents in the past, the likes of Vienna Cricket and Football Club (who later became Austria Vienna), in the early 1900's they twice reached the final of the Notts Senior Cup in 1906 (losing to Nottingham Forest) and in 1927 (losing to Mansfield Town). The club spent 99 years (winning eleven league titles and ten senior cups) in the MAA before joining the Notts Alliance in 2003, the club were founder members of the Notts Amateur Alliance before re-joining the MAA and in 2009 the NSL.
